Discriminative graph regularized extreme learning machine and its application to face recognition

چکیده
Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) has been proposed as a new algorithm for training single hidden layer feed forward neural networks. The main merit of ELM lies in the fact that the input weights as well as hidden layer bias are randomly generated and thus the output weights can be obtained analytically, which can overcome the drawbacks incurred by gradient-based training algorithms such as local optima, improper learning rate and low learning speed. Based on the consistency property of data, which enforces similar samples to share similar properties, we propose a discriminative graph regularized Extreme Learning Machine (GELM) for further enhancing its classification performance in this paper. In the proposed GELM model, the label information of training samples are used to construct an adjacent graph and correspondingly the graph regularization term is formulated to constrain the output weights to learn similar outputs for samples from the same class. The proposed GELM model also has a closed form solution as the standard ELM and thus the output weights can be obtained efficiently. Experiments on several widely used face databases show that our proposed GELM can achieve much performance gain over standard ELM and regularized ELM. Moreover, GELM also performs well when compared with the state-of-the-art classification methods for face recognition. & 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Face Recognition using an Affine Sparse Coding approach
Sparse coding is an unsupervised method which learns a set of over-complete bases to represent data such as image and video. Sparse coding has increasing attraction for image classification applications in recent years. But in the cases where we have some similar images from different classes, such as face recognition applications, different images may be classified into the same class, and hen...
متن کاملGraph Regularized Within-Class Sparsity Preserving Projection for Face Recognition
As a dominant method for face recognition, the subspace learning algorithm shows desirable performance. Manifold learning can deal with the nonlinearity hidden in the data, and can project high dimensional data onto low dimensional data while preserving manifold structure. Sparse representation shows its robustness for noises and is very practical for face recognition. In order to extract the f...

In this paper, we present a method for fully automatic facial expression recognition in facial image sequences using feature extracted from tracking of facial landmarks. The facial landmarks at the first frame of the image sequence under examination are initialized using elastic bunch graph matching (EBGM) algorithm and tracked in the consecutive video frame over time. At first, the most discri...

Rapid prototyping (RP) methods are used for production easily and quickly of a scale model of a physical part or assembly. Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) is a widespread process used for rapid prototyping of metallic parts. In this process, in order to obtain a desired welding geometry, it is very important to predict the weld bead geometry based on the input process parameters, which are voltage...
